Kenya: Siku Mmoja (Day One)

I am just completing our first full day in Kenya! Last night we got in around 9 pm, and after a few slight luggage complications, we were on our way to our home for the summer in Karen, Kenya.  Wow this place is beautiful! I don’t think any of us could have imagined how nice our house would be. I think it will be a great place to wind down after a long day, with plenty of “family space” and a kitchen to cook our hopefully edible food 😉 And for all of my concerned parents, don’t you fret – the location is incredibly safe.

Today we rode the matatu (the local bus) to eat breakfast, get phones, and do our first round of grocery shopping at Nakumatt.  It was a little rough around the edges, but we made it with the help of James, and we will be pros by the end of the week! Hopefully.  I am hoping that tomorrow we might visit Tumaini and visit everyone there.  We all miss them so much and I can’t wait to see their smiling faces, but we will see what the day holds.

That’s all for now I think. I am going to unpack a little bit and make some dinner – wish me luck!
